KERNAN HOSPITAL:

Kernan Hospital was established in 1895 as an Orthopedic hospital. Kernan now maintains 133 beds, providing rehabilitative, postoperative and critical care. Kernan joined the University of Maryland Medical System in 1986.


HOSPITALIST COVERAGE

The Internal Medicine Hospitalists program provides 24 hour emergency care for all patients, ongoing consultation for rehabilitation and surgical patients and off hour ICU coverage.


CMR UNIT (CHRONIC MEDICAL REHABILITATION)

This inpatient program provides Medical Attending coverage of patients undergoing rehabilitation, supported by an experienced nurse practitioner. Patients typically have undergone total joint replacement, or have ongoing conditions requiring Internal Medicine involvement.
